Travelling with Kids

I have seen numerous couples travelling with babies, toddlers, kids, teenagers - and it is amazing to see how these kids grow up learning about other cultures and lifestyles. It is quite clear that it is a privilege and most families cannot afford the money or the time to travel with kids or don’t have an interest to do it. But if you are one of those who would like to travel with children - Zagreb offers quite a few activities!

One day, I received a message on Instagram from a lady searching for a local guide to help her plan a custom made trip in Croatia, but she was coming with her 6-year-old daughter. We arranged all the details for a 4-day trip via email and she turned out to be one of the nicest and smartest women I have met on my tours and her daughter already visited 60 countries with her! I was her guide in Zagreb - we walked all over the center despite the rain and there was one thing we did for her cute little kid - the Chocolate Museum! And what would a Chocolate Museum be without the actual chocolate to taste?? There is a corner where you can taste three types of liquid chocolate, there are a lot of cute photo locations. Even the entrance ticket has chocolate samples, from the original cocoa beans to modern sweet chocolate chips. Kids LOVE IT!

A few months earlier, I was waiting for a group on the main square, knowing only that it was supposed to be 6 people. Suddenly, a lady was rushing towards me with a 1-year-old child in her arms, apologizing for being late, telling me that the rest of her family was arriving. One minute later, there is a man coming with three more kids, aged from 3 to 7 years! This Dubai-located family, originally from the USA, simply loves to travel with their four kids. Was it loud and challenging to do this tour? At time, yes. I admired to these parents’ ability to handle them. The mom even got stung by a bee half way through the tour! At the end of the tour, they took the kids to the Museum of Illusions - truly a great way to have fun with them for an hour or two. I would also recommend the newly opened Video Games History Museum - completely interactive, displaying old school video games devices and it’s perfect for a fun afternoon.
